Wear to Work - NYFW Fall 2012 - Cynthia Rowley

So far my favorite designers have yet to disappoint. Cynthia Rowley's careful embellishments (courtesy of DANNIJO), whimsical and floral patterns and use of olive leave me lusting for several pieces from her collection.

Wear to Work - NYFW Fall 2012 - Yigal Azrouel

Speechless was the single reaction as I clicked through the pictures of Yigal's Fall 2012 collection. The colors - wine & hunter. The fabrics - leather & fur. The textures and silhouettes...all totally wearable. I would dare to say my favorite collection so far (yeah, yeah, I know it's only Day 4).

And after I swooned at his sexy collection. I swooned at the even sexier man.

N:F:P Fashion Show for NYFW Spring 2012

N:F:P or New Form Perspective held their Spring 2012 fashion show on Wednesday night at Wix Lounge. I got to meet wonderful pro-blogger, Maria of One Style at a Time, chatted with some of N:F:P's fans and sipped on some Chardonnay before the show started.

Overall the show was very well-done. I loved the concept - being a voyeur into the world of a woman going about her morning, deciding what pieces to wear from her wardrobe.

The models came out, some holding pieces and the walked over to a rack of additional items from the line. They demonstrated how easy it was to mix and match different items from the collection by putting on and taking off sweaters, vests and the like - showing that the entire collection was interchangeable and easy to build layers with. I especially liked the fully layered cardigans. They looked so billowy and comfortable - and although part of the Spring collection, are just in time for fall.

For all you NYC folks, N:F:P is holding a Pop Up Shop in the Lower East at Kaight NYC until October 18th. If you like what you see, check em out.

Wear to Work - NYFW Spring 2012 (Part 1)

New York Fashion Week is in full effect and although I'm not one of the lucky ones to be present at the shows, I have been living vicariously through so many of your tweets and blog posts!

In lieu of fashion week live blogging-awesomeness, I'm selecting my favorite wear to work Spring 2012 looks straight from the runway. I'm intrigued by the flowly geometry of so many of these pieces, mixed with the electric hues and muddled down pastels. Many of the looks below are both pretty and bold - a look that is hard to pull off yet powerfully suggestive when well-executed.

#IFBCON Pre-Party!

In case you haven't heard, it's Fashion Week in NYC and that means tons of fashion shows, conferences, pre-parties and after-parties.

I some how got invited to attend The Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference pre-party at the Mandarian Oriental Bar. (ahem, thank you Grit & Glamour for the invite!) Although I couldn't make it to the actual conference - gotta pay the bills - I did have a fabulous time networking and learning from some seasoned bloggers.

 Ari from Advanced Style

I got some great advice from Ari about approaching random strangers to shoot street style. What's the worst they can say? "No thanks" Not so bad afterall. I definitely have more courage to venture into Corporate Street Style!

Yours truly hanging with Tony Wang of post.fashionism

We chatted a while about business, consulting, fashion, school, nerdism... Great guy!

I didn't get to snap a shot of the beautiful Anika of By Anika but she was just as amazingly positive and supportive as she comes off on her blog. You inspire me!

Overall I was surprised by how "cool" everyone was. I mean really. Kristina of Pretty Shiny Sparkly was absolutely down-to-earth and sweet. She even gave me advice on blogging time management: You make time for the things you're passionate about. And both Bella of The Citizen Rosebud and Monroe of Fashion Steele NYC had me giggly all night. Ok, it might have also been all the bubbly that the servers were passing around too. Don't judge.

Embarrassing Blogger Story Alert
So here I am soaked from the deluge on Tuesday night, trying to balance myself from sliding down the Mandarin Oriental's lobby, when I see a woman in an awfully beautiful floral dress. I say nothing as we both enter the elevator but I do notice that she's also going to the 35th floor. Hmm... an hour later I find out that it was no other than Jennine Jacob aka The Coveted aka IFB's founder! Oops. I later went and said hello after I laughed at myself.
